Description

A small gobang, a sword type that was popular among the Sundanese of the Preanger Highlands. It has a laminated blade with a coarse wood grain pattern. The hilt is covered with sheet silver, engraved with floral designs.

The wooden scabbard of characteristic form for the culture, with a pronounced widening at the mouthpiece and endpiece which in this case are both of silver. The main scabbard body is wrapped with narrow rattan.

Some edge damage and some play in the hilt. Otherwise a nice complete example in good, original condition with no replacements or repairs.
