Description

A well-made piece with somewhat large blade. Of good quality, tightly forged steel that is shaped to considerable precision. Straight grooves, facets, and bevels. Blade with the classic layout; Two grooves running along the base of the blade up to the shoulder. The spine is ridged. The main portion of a blade is slightly hollow ground. Edge contours still intact, no signs of excessive sharpening or damage polished out.

The hilt consists of an iron bolster and a carved dark hardwood grip. Grip with the traditional raised band for grip and a deeply carved decorative band with stylized floral motifs. The grip is inlaid on both sides with two sets of three star-shaped ornaments in bone.

Comes with its original scabbard, covered entirely in black leather. Scabbard in very good condition, retaining its back pockets and the cakmak, a flint striker and sharpening steel. Bands and buttons that would go around the top part are lost.

Condition

Blade in very good condition for age, edge intact. Hilt, some chips off the rim of the pommel. Scabbard, a split on the top side. See photos.
